Defense Health Board Subcommittees

Health Care Delivery Subcommittee

The Health Care Delivery Subcommittee shall function as a Subcommittee of the Defense Health Board (DHB) with specific emphasis on matters related to health care delivery, to include DoD health care policy and program management and research. Subcommittee areas of examination shall include, but not be limited to, disease management, health promotion, health care delivery personnel, infrastructure, patient safety, quality management and prescription formulary issues. This Subcommittee shall represent a broad spectrum of health care delivery disciplines and constitutes the operational component of the Board in the area of health care delivery.

Medical Ethics Subcommittee

The Medical Ethics Subcommittee shall function as a Subcommittee of the DHB for the examination of issues with a specific emphasis on medical ethics, the study of moral values as they apply to medicine, and their practical application in clinical settings.

Neurological/Behavioral Health Subcommittee

The Neurological/Behavioral Health Subcommittee shall serve as a Subcommittee of the DHB for the examination of issues pertaining to psychological/mental issues and neurological symptoms or conditions among members of the Armed Forces and their families. The Subcommittee shall serve as the primary referral group for questions submitted by DoD related to psychological and mental health, and will meet as necessary for the purpose of addressing these matters.

Public Health Subcommittee

The Public Health Subcommittee shall function as a Subcommittee of the DHB providing advice on matters pertaining to improving the overall health of members of the Armed Forces and their families through the evaluation of DoD public health programs and initiatives including education, health promotion and prevention activities, as well as disease and injury prevention research.  This Subcommittee shall provide advice on matters pertaining to improving the overall health of members of the Armed Forces and their families through the evaluation of DoD public health programs and initiatives including education, health promotion, and prevention activities, as well as disease prevention and injury prevention research. The Subcommittee serves as the primary referral group for requests submitted by DoD related to infectious disease, occupational health/medicine, preventive medicine, public health, and toxicology.

Trauma and Injury Subcommittee

The Trauma and Injury Subcommittee serves as a subcommittee of the DHB for the examination of issues pertaining to DoD trauma and injury, to include methods for prevention, recognition, clinical management, and treatment. 

Submitting Written Statements to the DHB

Any member of the public wishing to provide input to the DHB may submit a written statement at anytime in accordance with 41 CFR § 102-3.140(C) and section 10(a)(3) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.

Written statements should not be longer than two type-written pages and must address the following detail: The issue, discussion, and a recommended course of action. Supporting documentation may also be included as needed to establish the appropriate historical context and to provide any necessary background information.

Individuals may submit a written statement at any point. However, if not received at least 10 calendar days prior to the next scheduled meeting of the DHB, the statement will not be provided to or considered by the DHB until the next open meeting.
