Defense Health Board

The Defense Health Board is a Federal Advisory Committee to the Secretary of Defense that provides independent advice/recommendations on matters pertaining to:

  • DoD healthcare policy and program management
  • Health research programs
  • Requirements for the treatment and prevention of disease and injury by the DoD
  • Promotion of health and wellness within the DoD and the effective and efficient delivery of high-quality health care services to DoD beneficiaries
  • Other health-related matters of special interest to the DoD


Our mission is to provide independent authoritative advice to maximize the health, safety, and effectiveness of the United States Armed Forces.

The Defense Health Board is tentatively scheduled to meet on the following dates in 2020:

  • February 10, 2020 – Falls Church, VA
  • May 18, 2020 – Virtual Meeting
  • August 7, 2020 – Virtual Meeting
  • November 5, 2020 – Virtual Meeting 
    * The November 5 Defense Health Board meeting will be held by video/teleconference. To participate, please register by emailing your name, rank/title, and organization to or by contacting Ms. Michele Porter at (703) 275-6012 no later than Friday, October 30, 2020.  Access information will be provided after registering. The number of participants is limited and is on a first-come basis.
