The DoD has acquired a new electronic research protocol management system (EIRB or iRIS) that allows investigators to create protocols and submit supporting documentation to the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) for review by either an Institutional Review Board or individual HRPP staff members.
We have included information (see below) that will assist investigators or other study personnel to create an account in the EIRB. Once your account is created, you will be able to develop new protocols within the application, either by typing in the protocol information de novo or by copying and pasting from a Word (or other word processing application) document. All submissions (new studies, amendments, continuing reviews, etc.) will be made through the EIRB. We are in the process of developing some guidance documents for users; however, the system is quite user-friendly.
If you encounter problems accessing the EIRB, then contact the EIRB program office or DHA Global Service Center at 800-600-9332. If you are experiencing problems with building a protocol or uploading supporting documents, then please reach out to the DHA HRPP for assistance. We will do our best to assist you, or we will guide you to tutorials that are available online.
To access the new EIRB, navigate to https://eirb.csd.disa.mil and use your CAC email credentials for authentication.
