VHA TRAIN is a gateway into the TRAIN Learning Network , the most comprehensive catalog of public health training opportunities. TRAIN is a free service for learners from the Public Health Foundation. VHA TRAIN is supported by the Veterans Health Administration Employee Education System, an internal education and training program office in the Department of Veteran Affairs. Through this site, users can:

  • Quickly find and register for many courses listed on and participating TRAIN affiliated sites
  • Track learning with personal online transcripts
  • Access valuable materials, course reviews and discussions to improve learning experience
  • Stay informed of the latest public health training for specific areas or expertise

Creating a Learner Account

  1. Go to the VHA TRAIN Portal 
  2. Select the "Create an Account" link.
  3. Complete the online registration form to set up your account.
  4. After completing form, select "Your Profile" from notifications or the "Your Profile" link in the top right corner (click yourname).
    • Select the option to "Manage Groups," and then select the option to "Join Another Group." This selection will determinewhat courses and content are made available to you.
    • Select a VHA group that pertains to your interests. This selection will determine what courses and content are madeavailable to you per the affiliate provider.
    • Items with a red exclamation point must be completed to complete Your Profile and be able to register for coursework.
  5. Select "Confirm These Selections," and then "Confirm Group Selections."
  6. Select "Save" and then "Close" to exit Your Profile.
  7. From the Notifications area, be sure to select the "Opt in to TRAIN" emails link to ensure you will receive course updates,or password change emails.

Adding VHA TRAIN to Your Portals on TRAIN

  1. Log into TRAIN via your own affiliate portal. Click on your name in the upper right corner of the page.
  2. Select the Manage Groups (blue) button from the profile menu.
  3. Select the "Join Another Group" button (green).
  4. Select VHA from the list.
  5. Select a "Group," from the list. VHA TRAIN’s groups will allow for more targeted content to keep your TRAIN experience more relevant and less cluttered.
