About Us

The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, its variety of clinics and four community based medical home clinics support active duty, retirees, and their family members within a 40-mile radius. This hospital sits on the largest military installation in the country. On an average day, the staff at Darnall delivers four babies; handles 1,081 primary care visits, 1,401 specialty care visits, 13 surgeries, 2,224 laboratory tests, 435 radiology studies, 33 admissions, 134 Emergency Room visits, and fills 2,672 prescriptions. More than 90,000 beneficiaries receive primary care at CRDAMC and many more receive emergency and subspecialty care.

CDRAMC is an excellent training ground for healthcare professions in which service members can directly access for emergency care, primary care, mental health, and musculoskeletal care.

Fort Cavazos is home to the III Armored Corps, the 1st Cavalry Division, the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Army Division West, as well as many other supporting units. The large presence of service members provides ample opportunities for residents and fellows to become very familiar and comfortable with military and operational medicine. Additionally, a large troop population means many young families and children, offering a large obstetric and pediatric population for residents and fellows to care for. Finally, Central Texas is an affordable and attractive location for retirees, providing a large older adult population for resident and fellow education.
