About Us

The 96th Medical Group is a full spectrum community hospital supporting 92,000 eligible beneficiaries and boasting one of the Air Force's busiest Labor and Delivery Units. Tucked away in friendly Fort Walton Beach, this hospital features basic inpatient capabilities including an open Intensive Care Unit. We house a Nurse Residency program, an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program, a Family Medicine Residency Program, the Interservice Physician Assistant Program Phase II site and serve as a rotating site for Keesler Air Force Base’s General Surgery Residency. The Family Medicine Residency is the sole ACGME program. The Hospital supports Human Subjects Research and hosts an annual research symposium in the early summer showcasing scholarly activity. The 96th MDG supports the 96th Test Wing which tests innovative warfighting capabilities and specializes in acclimatization, flight testing and munitions testing. If you can dream it, they can test it. Located on the base is the Tri-Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal school as well as nearby Ranger Training and the 7th Special Forces Group - Airborne. This co-location and ongoing medical support provides a great deal of opportunity for operational experience during residency.
