Program Director, Martin Army Community Hospital Family Medicine
Lt. Col. (Dr.) Benjamin Arthur serves as the Designated Institutional Official and Program Director for the Martin Army Community Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, where he oversees the training of 28 U.S. Army resident physicians. This program prepares its residents to lead in serving the medical needs of the U.S. military across the globe. As a practicing physician, Lt. Col. Arthur is board-certified in family medicine, and fellowship-trained in faculty development.
Lt. Col. Arthur graduated from Lincoln University with a degree in biology in 2006. He was also a member of the Missouri National Guard serving as both a medic and cadet from 2000-2006. Lt. Col. Arthur earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Science in Bethesda, Maryland in 2010, and completed a family medicine residency at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Moore, Georgia in 2013.
Prior to his current position, Lt. Col. Arthur has served as the 3d Ranger Battalion Surgeon, 75th Ranger Regiment, as a Leader and Faculty Development Fellow, and a Family Medicine Clinic Officer in Charge.
Lt. Col. Arthur’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Joint Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, and Army Overseas Service Ribbon.
Lt. Col. Arthur is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and has served as a participating member of the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians as well as the Uniformed Services University FOCUS Faculty Initiative.
