Disease Mapping

The Integrated Biosurveillance Branch analyzes and reports geo-referenced health surveillance data through maps, web-maps, and dashboards. They maintain the Health Surveillance Explorer, a mapping application that summarizes, integrates, and disseminates surveillance information.

The HSE provides combatant command decision-makers with timely, relevant, actionable, and comprehensive health surveillance information to promote, maintain, and enhance the health of active-duty service members and Military Health System beneficiaries. It also provides a near real-time picture of health threats, disease outbreaks, and other events of military interest and/or relevance to the DOD.

In partnership with the Evaluation and Analysis Section, GIS has comprehensively revamped the dashboards in the HSE. This updated tool now offers easily accessible, location-specific information, featuring highlights of the top five military treatment facilities. Additionally, it presents annual case counts for specific injuries for historical insights and details the incidence of specific conditions. These statistics are provided for CONUS and OCONUS MTFs.
