Garrison-based Electronic Health Record

AHLTA, CHCS, and Essentris® are some of the health IT solution use by the Military Health System for documenting patient care in Garrison. The military’s garrison-based electronic health record (EHR) system is comprised of a variety of comprehensive health information technology solutions, AHLTA, the military’s outpatient EHR documentation solution; Composite Health Care System (CHCS), the military’s health IT solution for managing laboratory, radiology and pharmacy orders, as well as scheduling appointments; and, the military’s inpatient health care documentation solution. Together, these clinical systems allow the military’s medical community to electronically capture, manage and share health care data for approximately 9.5 million Military Health System (MHS) beneficiaries.

The current EHR used in garrison at military treatment facilities worldwide include, AHLTA and the CHCS, the military's inpatient EHR system, and the Clinical Data Repository (CDR).
