TRICARE Health Program

Do you have questions about your pharmacy benefit or your prescription drugs? Join the “Make the Most of Your TRICARE Pharmacy Benefit” webinar on April 25, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET. This webinar will discuss how to fill prescriptions and manage prescriptions, as well as pharmacy covered services, costs, and more. A pharmacy expert will provide detailed information about the TRICARE Pharmacy Program and answer your questions.

The TRICARE Pharmacy Program provides prescription drug coverage for all TRICARE beneficiaries. You have the same pharmacy coverage with any TRICARE health plan. If you use the US Family Health Plan, you have a separate pharmacy coverage. Active duty service members don’t pay for their covered prescription drugs.

Your pharmacy contractor is Express Scripts, Inc. and they manage TRICARE prescriptions. With the TRICARE Pharmacy Program, you have four options for filling your prescriptions:

TRICARE covers most prescription drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration. You can search the TRICARE Formulary for covered generic and brand-name drugs. You can also search the TRICARE Formulary to:

  • See where you can fill your prescription
  • See how much a drug costs (costs will vary depending on drug category)
  • See if your prescription needs prior authorization from your provider
  • Look up the medical necessity criteria

Learn more about how your pharmacy benefit works by joining the April 25 webinar. A Q&A led by the presenter will follow the presentation.

A change of address may mean new TRICARE health options

Article
5/16/2019
Moving may change the TRICARE health care options available to you and your family. A change of address, such as moving to a new country, city, region, or ZIP+4 code is a TRICARE Qualifying Life Event (QLE). This QLE means you have 90 days from the date of your address change to enroll in or change your TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select health plan based on your eligibility or plan availability in the new location. Moving doesn’t change your TRICARE eligibility. But it may change the TRICARE health care options available to you and your family
