TRICARE Health Program | Open Season 2019

Do you have questions about open season? Here’s your chance to get some answers. Join TRICARE on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 3:15 p.m. ET. The live Q&A session is on the TRICARE Facebook page.

Did you know that TRICARE and the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) have open seasons for enrollment? Both TRICARE and FEDVIP open seasons begin on Monday, Nov. 11 and end on Monday, Dec. 9. The enrollment choices that you make during this period will take effect on Jan. 1, 2020.

TRICARE Open Season is the annual period when you can enroll in or change your health care coverage for the next year. It only applies to anyone enrolled in or eligible for a TRICARE Prime option, including US Family Health Plan, or TRICARE Select.

Federal Benefits Open Seasonis separate from TRICARE Open Season. If you’re eligible for FEDVIP coverage, you can enroll in, change, or cancel a FEDVIP dental or vision plan during open season.

You don’t need to register for this event. But you’ll need to have a Facebook profile to comment. Watch for TRICARE to post an introduction video to kick off the event. Then, simply submit your questions in the comments section of the video post.

During the Q&A, remember:

  • Don’t post personally identifiable information
  • Don’t refer to any specific health condition
  • Don’t use names of specific individuals

Don’t miss this opportunity to ask questions about open season. Join TRICARE on Facebook on Oct. 31 to get the answers you need to take command of your health.

New 3-D mammogram option the next step in diagnosis, treatment

Article
12/19/2019
Chief Hospital Corpsman Naomi Perez, a certified mammogram technician (left), conducts a mammogram for a patient at Naval Hospital Pensacola. A mammogram is a low-dose X-ray procedure used to detect the early stages of breast cancer. A policy change effective Jan. 1, 2020, will allow digital breast tomosynthesis, or 3-D mammography, to be used to screen for breast cancer. The procedure – known technically as Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) – will be offered primarily to women age 40 and older, and women age 30 and older who are considered high-risk for breast cancer. The procedure’s 3-D images provide a more thorough means of detecting the disease. (U.S. Navy Photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Brannon Deugan)
