Drug Take Back Program

The Military Health System is establishing a Drug Take Back program to help beneficiaries properly dispose of their prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.

  • The program is available at all military pharmacies in United States and U.S. Territories.
  • Military pharmacies in all other overseas areas will operate under the medication disposal guidance of their host nations.

Practicing good drug disposal habits protects you, your family, and your community. To safely dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired prescription drugs, you can now go to any military pharmacy in the U.S. or U.S. Territory. Military pharmacies offer one or both of the following Drug Take Back options:

  • Mail-in envelopes you can pick up and take with you, or
  • Secure bins where you can drop unwanted drugs onsite

To find out which drug take back option is offered, you can search for your military hospital or clinic online.
