Pursuant to Chapter 61 of Title 10, U.S.C., these boards determine the fitness of service members with medical conditions to perform their military duties and, for members determined unfit because of duty-related conditions, their eligibility for compensation and benefits. The Physical Evaluation Board process includes both the formal and informal PEBs.
