The DoD Global, Laboratory-based, Influenza Surveillance Program, at USAFSAM selects military treatment facilities (MTFs) from worldwide locations to participate as Sentinel Sites. Installations are selected annually based on mission, population, deployment/operations tempo and type, and geographic location. Particular focus is on impact to critical operations, highly heterogeneous, mobile populations, potential for new strain production, and past performance. The 2016-2017 Sentinel Site listing (attached) was approved by the USAFSAM team in April 2016, in committee, and has remained unchanged for 2 years.

In accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1300.28, "In-Service Transition for Transgender Service Members" June 30, 2016, and Directive-Type Memorandum (DTM) 16-005, "Military Service of Transgender Service Members," June 30, 2016, this memorandum provides guidance for the medical care of transgender Service members. This memorandum supplements requirements in those issuances; it does not supersede any such requirements. Until the DoD is able to promulgate specific clinical practice guidelines fro the care of transgender personnel, the Military Health System will adhere to the 2009 version of the Endocrine Society's Standards of Care, "Endocrine Treatment of Transsexual Persons: An Endocrine Society's Clinical Practice Guideline" as the primary guideline to provide consistent, evidence-based care to transitioning patients.

With this update, CDC is expanding its existing recommendations to cover all pregnant couples, which includes pregnant women with female sex partners. This guidance also describes what other couples (those who are not pregnant or planning to become pregnant) can do to reduce the risk for Zika virus transmission. CDC’s recommendations for couples planning to become pregnant have been published separately (9).
