I retired from the Army in 2018, but here is my family prior to deploying to Afghanistan in 2010. As a mother serving our great nation, my children have witnessed firsthand the importance of protecting our freedoms. However, being away from my children due to my duties was difficult. Thankfully, many military family support programs and yellow ribbon events were available to assist. I always felt grateful knowing that my family, military colleagues, and friends were there to support me whenever I or my family needed it.
