Medical Education and Training Campus

The Medical Education and Training Campus is the primary training location for Army, Navy and Air Force enlisted medical trainees. With an average daily student load of 5,500 students in 49 medical training programs, the campus also provides advanced level training. Established in 2010 as part of a Base Realignment and Closure Commission decision to co-locate all military enlisted training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, METC's mission is to provide world class enlisted medical training to support mission readiness in peacetime and war.

METC Degree Bridge Program

METC’s vision, Today’s leaders. Tomorrow’s mission. Premier center for cutting edge training—always, positions METC’s graduates for the future. In addition to developing curricula that train students to meet the services’ mission requirements, the METC Degree Bridge Program provides METC alumni—whether active duty, National Guard, Reserve, or veteran—with an opportunity to receive a degree or certification by earning college credit for their military service and training. Through partnerships with colleges and universities across the country, these degree bridge pathways greatly reduce the time and money spent toward earning a degree.

This program also helps prepare service members and veterans to find employment in the career field they were trained in when they leave the service. It similarly helps Guard and Reserve service members maintain their readiness.

METC partners with 92educational institutions and has more than 2,600 degree bridge pathways. Service members can earn the following degree types:

  • Certificates and diplomas
  • Associate
  • Bachelor's
  • Master's
  • Doctorate

The degree pathway is aligned with each student's career field, such as business, management, and other subjects.
