TRICARE Announces Option to Add a Caregiver to Express Scripts Account

FALLS CHURCH, Virginia – The Defense Health Agency (DHA) today announced that TRICARE beneficiaries can designate a caregiver to help them manage their pharmacy benefit through their Express Scripts, Inc. account online.

A caregiver can be a family member, friend, in-home nurse, or anyone who helps the beneficiary manage their medication. Beneficiaries can have up to eight caregivers on their account.

After a caregiver has been granted access, they can contact Express Scripts on the beneficiary’s behalf. Caregivers can help manage prescriptions, check order status, set account preferences, and answer questions about orders, such as where to ship medication or how to pay. Adding a caregiver does not replace the beneficiary as the account manager. Beneficiaries can still manage their own prescriptions and Express Scripts account.

Beneficiaries who wish to add a caregiver, need to add their caregiver’s:

  • First and last name
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Phone number

To add a caregiver to your Express Scripts account:

  1. Log in to your account online.
  2. Choose “Add a Caregiver” under the “Account” menu.
  3. Follow the prompt.

Beneficiaries can still designate a caregiver by contacting Express Scripts directly.

Patients also have the option to remove a caregiver’s access if needed.
