Orthopedic Technician
The Orthopedic Technician Clinical Training Program allows students to further refine their skills in a military or civilian treatment facilities. Orthopedic technicians specifically focus on the care and treatment of orthopedic patients by:
- Properly fitting and applying pre- and postoperative braces, crutches, and other soft goods
- Utilizing proper safety precautions when changing dressings and removing sutures
- Applying, removing, and modifying casts and splints
- Assisting with procedures including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures, fracture reductions
- Preparing injection sites
- Drawing medications
- Applying traction and orthopedic appliances
- Instructing patients in cast, splint, and traction care
- Assisting in the treatment of residual limb patients
