Program Description

The Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care by employing cutting-edge techniques across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Our primary focus is to ensure the highest quality education for trainees at all levels, with a particular emphasis on nurturing future leaders in the field of Interventional Radiology. Our research interests span clinical, translational, and basic sciences, providing a robust foundation for scientific exploration and discovery.

Our residents gain invaluable experience across a wide spectrum of cases, including:

  • Vascular
  • Oncologic
  • Hepatobiliary
  • Dialysis
  • Pain/palliative
  • Genitourinary
  • Gastrointestinal conditions

Additionally, they have the unique opportunity to develop skills in pediatric and neurointerventional procedures. Multidisciplinary conferences, outpatient clinics, and noninvasive vascular imaging are integral components of their training.

Military Affiliation Highlights

One dedicated military position is available each year for an Army applicant. The University is located in a dense military region near Buckley with an easy commute to bases around the Colorado Springs area. Faculty have experience working with military sponsored residents.

The residents rotate at four sites:

  • The University of Colorado
  • Denver Health
  • Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • VA

The University of Colorado and Denver Health are both level I trauma centers which allow significant experience in Interventional Radiology management of trauma. Additionally, the residents rotate in the Surgical ICU.
