Lt. Col. (Dr.) Nathaniel J. Renes

Director of Medical Education

Lt. Col. (Dr.) Nathaniel J. Renes serves as the Director of Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He oversees the training of more than 50 U.S. military officers in two Graduate Medical Education and two Graduate Allied Health Education specialty programs. Eglin Military Treatment Facility prepares its graduates to lead in serving the medical needs of the U.S. military across the globe. Dr. Renes is board-certified in family medicine and currently teaches on the core faculty with the Eglin family medicine residency program.

Dr. Renes graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2005 as a distinguished graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences. He then served as a lead behavioral scientist at the Air Force Occupational Measurement Squadron at Randolph AFB, TX and later as Director of Staff at the Center for Character and Leadership Development at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Dr. Renes was awarded a Health Professions Scholarship and earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 2014. He completed family medicine residency training at Offutt AFB, Nebraska, serving as Chief Resident in his final year

Dr. Renes is an active-duty Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. He has served in the regular Air Force for 11 years a family physician. Following completion of his medical training, Dr. Renes was staff physician and Medical Director in the Family Health Clinic, 28th Medical Group, Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. He was then selected and completed 5 years as Chief Medical Officer for the 45th Medical Group at Patrick SFB, Florida.

Dr. Renes’ awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

Dr. Renes is a member of the Uniformed Services Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
