Program Disclosures

Does the program or institution require students, trainees, and/or staff (faculty) to comply with specific policies or practices related to the institution’s affiliation or purpose? Such policies or practices may include, but are not limited to, admissions, hiring, retention policies, and/or requirements for completion that express mission and values?

Yes or No: Yes

If yes, provide website link (or content from brochure) where this specific information is presented:

The Brooke Army Medical Center Army Clinical Psychology Residency Program is an active duty Army Psychology Postdoctoral Program. To be accepted as an Active Duty Commissioned Officer in an Army Psychology Postdoctoral Program, applicants must meet the basic qualification standards established by the Department of War and the Army. These standards, which are designed to ensure all applicants are capable of performing their military duties, can include medical and physical fitness standards, age and citizenship requirements, and security qualifications. If applicants do not meet all standard qualifications, they may be considered for a waiver under certain conditions. Each military service makes its own independent decisions on waivers, and all waivers must be approved before that service's selection board convenes. Because the decision is up to the individual service, it is possible to receive a waiver from one branch but not from another.

Briefly describe in narrative form important information to assist potential applicants in assessing their likely fit with your program. This description must be consistent with the program’s policies on intern selection and practicum and academic preparation requirements:

Applicants should carefully review the information on the Brooke Army Medical Center Army Clinical Psychology Residency Program website. The Brooke Army Medical Center’s Clinical Psychology Residency Program is a year-long, full-time postdoctoral program, currently pursuing APA accreditation, that operates on a practitioner-scholar model. The program's primary aim is to develop autonomous general psychologists prepared for the common challenges of both military and civilian practice. Building on skills from the internship year, the CPRP provides advanced training in diagnosis, treatment, assessment, and consultation. It is specifically designed to prepare residents for their first assignment as a Behavioral Health Officer by focusing on the application of clinical knowledge to leadership, command consultation, and Officership within the unique context of a military environment.

Describe any other required minimum criteria used to screen applicants:

Active Duty Applicants

Interested active duty applicants should speak with their Internship Program Director as early in the internship training year as possible to notify them of the intent to apply to CPRP. All active duty applicants must submit the Post-Internship Assignment Preference Memorandum to the Psychology Consultant, Office of the Surgeon General no later than June 1 of that training year. Those requiring a Permanent Change of Station to attend CPRP at BAMC will need the approval of the OTSG Psychology Consultant prior to applying.

Civilian Applicants
