Hospital Corpsman Second Class Allan M. Cundangan Espiritu was killed on November 1, 2005, by an improvised explosive device in the vicinity of Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Espiritu was a hospital corpsman assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Force SupĀ­port Group (Forward) of the II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), based at Camp Pendleton, California. He was on his second tour of duty in Iraq and had volunteered for service with an explosive ordnance disposal unit, passing up safer duties so he could be where he was needed. He was buried at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, California.
