Corporal Conor G. Masterson died on April 8, 2007, when an improvised explosive device detonated near the patrol vehicle in which he was riding in eastern Afghani­stan. The 21-year-old was serving with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regi­ment out of Hohenfels, Germany, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. He was laid to rest in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
