Corporal Joseph H. Cantrell IV paid the ultimate sacrifice when an improvised explo­sive device detonated near his vehicle in Taji, Iraq, on April 4, 2007. The 23-year-old served with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cav­alry Division, out of Fort Hood, Texas, supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was buried near his hometown of Westwood, Kentucky.
