Connected Health

DHA Connected Health (formerly the National Center for Telehealth & Technology) is the branch of the Defense Health Agency responsible for reviewing, evaluating, coordinating, and integrating the use and development of health technology supporting Military Health System (MHS) beneficiaries. These technologies include telehealth, mobile apps, mobile web, virtual reality, augmented reality, and wearable devices.

The mission of DHA Connected Health is to lead the innovation of health technology solutions that connect beneficiaries with their own care, and deliver tested, valued health solutions that improve the lives of our nation’s warriors, veterans, and their families.

Our vision is leveraging technology to optimize health care across the Department of Defense (DoD).

The programs and products developed by DHA Connected Health align with the MHS Quadruple Aim to ensure readiness, population health, experience of care, and responsible management of the total cost of health care. DHA Connected Health also supports the DoD’s goals of increasing access to care, establishing best practices and quality standards for health technology and telehealth, and reducing both military suicide rates and the prevalence of stigma associated with seeking health care services.

DHA Connected Health is composed of four sections focused on delivering its mission across the DHA and all its clinical communities:

  • mHealth Clinical Integration - Optimizing the delivery of integrated clinical care by leveraging web- and mobile-health technologies.
  • Knowledge Translation - Supporting performance-improvement efforts through the Clearinghouse program's market analysis and literature review, and providing medical education through the Connected Health Provider Resources program on the utilization of mobile health in clinical practice.
  • Telehealth Patient Experience - Supporting access and optimizing the patient experience through telehealth and remote health technologies, and regular review of telehealth implementation throughout the MHS.
  • Mission Enablement - Providing administrative, operations, logistics, and public affairs and communications support to deliver the DHA Connected Health mission.
