Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) course provides education and training in the major disciplines of ultrasound physics, sonography of the abdomen, small parts sonography, basic vascular sonography, sonography of the pelvis, and obstetrical sonography. The instructional design for the DMS course is group lockstep. The course consists of lectures, group activities, demonstrations, hands-on instruction, and clinical practice. Instruction may include computer- based or blended learning options. Practical exercises as well as computerized and written examinations are used to assess knowledge and skills. Diagnostic Medical Sonographer provides students the technical skills and knowledge required to achieve entry-level competencies and perform Navy L15A Ultrasound Technologist and Air Force 4R031B Diagnostic Medical Sonographer duties at fixed medical treatment facilities and field environments.
