“My dad, U.S. Army Master Sgt. (retired) Samuel Akin, is a Vietnam veteran. He served for 23 years after being drafted. Growing up around the military, my father made sure that I knew how to take care of myself and instilled a good work ethic. Sad to say that he now resides at a dementia ward in Dublin, Georgia. I am very proud that he is my dad.”
